Croatia: Strong Winds Fuel Brač Island Wildfire, Two Hurt in Evacuation

A massive wildfire continued to burn on Croatia's Brač island as of Sunday, September 13, as strong winds hampered efforts to stop the blaze near the village of Milna. The fire prompted nearly 700 evacuations from the area, and two people were injured during the operation.

Torrential rain pounded Japan's Tokai region, including Nagoya, on Tuesday afternoon, September 8, flooding roads across the city. The capital of Aichi Prefecture recorded 104.5 millimeters of rainfall in one hour, the highest ever recorded in the city, and the downpour forced widespread train suspensions that stranded commuters.
